Therapeutic Riding of Tucson

As a way to build team skills, students learned “Interactive Vaulting,” a certified discipline that engages people in horsemanship activities and movements around, on and off a horse. This experience offered the students educational, social/emotional and movement opportunities.

Students worked together in all aspects related to the horse and each other. Self-esteem, confidence, and personal empowerment all increased through purposeful exercise, overcoming fears, making good decisions, awareness of boundaries and safety, and caring for themselves and others. Later, during classroom time, students were more willing to help one another and were very positive and supportive as well.
