Exploring the Borderlands Through Unique Lenses

Story

9th-12th grade students at Pueblo High School initially explored border issues using available source material. Students then met with local artists and alumni who concentrated on the Border. Through that inspiration, they then created their own artwork.

At the conclusion of the project, students projected their creations onto the wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. The shared experience of traveling with teachers, students and community members fostered conversations that might not otherwise have happened. Having student artwork publicly displayed on the actual border wall at night set an authentic tone, creating a space for everyone present to share experiences, concerns, and hopes for the future.
